PUTNAM COUNTY, OHIO - In a completely unexpected move, the executives of the Putnam International Trailway have had to officially announce who their primary race announcer will be for the upcoming 2023 season. The press release states that they will not be replacing their legendary announcer, known as "The Voice of 7-L", despite receiving interest from former CNN anchor, Don Lemon.
According to sources close to the situation, Lemon's agents had reached out to the dirt track expressing the anchor's desire to fill the announcer's booth for the upcoming season. However, Trailway executives stood firm in their decision to keep "The Voice of 7-L" behind the microphone.
"We appreciate Mr. Lemon's interest in the position, but we have a longstanding relationship with 'The Voice of 7-L'," said a spokesperson for the trailway. "He has been with us every year and we believe he is the best announcer for our track."
This news comes as a shock to many who were hoping to see a fresh face in the announcer's booth. Lemon, who was recently let go from his position at CNN, had expressed interest in branching out into new fields, including sports announcing. Sources close to Lemon claim that the executive team at Putnam International Trailway told him "sorry, not sorry".
The Trailway's first race of the season, "Insurrection on 7-L", is set to take place on May 13th. It remains to be seen whether Lemon will attend the event, but sources say he has already started practicing his announcing skills in preparation for a potential future opportunity. In the meantime, fans of the dirt down by the Cranberry will have to settle for the familiar call of "The Voice of 7-L" as they gear up for another exciting season of dirt track racing.
Sources at Putnam International Trailway claim that they have reached out to Tucker Carlson to guest-announce the Insurrection.
